Well that was the season that was …… is!!
2020 provided many challenges, excessive rain at inappropriate times, humidity off the charts, bushfires and smoke concerns and then Covid 19 to top it all off !!!
We had a number of sleepless nights but fortunately, concerns over smoke damage from the bushfires proved a non issue. Rains during the late stages of the ripening period did necessitate many moderations to our normal program and kept us on our toes. Many vineyards had yield loses of up to 60% however we managed our way through and the result has been wonderful with generally smaller bunches and berries meaning the flavours have been enhanced to produce lovely cool climate fruit. Some of the highlights of vintage 2020 include Chardonnay, Grenache, our young Pinot Noir D4V2 clone to add complexity and lastly the reds at Kangaroo Ground.
This was definitely a vintage to remember. The wines are looking great and we look forward to sharing them with you.
