Perfect Pairings: Discovering the Magic of Cool Climate Shiraz
There's something truly special about Shiraz grown in cool-climate regions — elegance, balance, and complexity all wrapped into one delicious pour. Our Black Cameron Shiraz is a proud example of just how refined and expressive Yarra Valley Shiraz can be.
Named in tribute to the Scottish heritage of the Graham family, this wine is crafted from fruit grown on our Kangaroo Ground vineyard, where cooler temperatures and long ripening periods result in a more restrained, perfumed style of Shiraz.
Tasting Notes: Black Cameron Shiraz
A medium-bodied wine with lifted aromas of dark plum, black cherry and white pepper, supported by subtle spice and well-integrated French oak. The palate is beautifully structured with fine tannins and vibrant acidity.
Top Food Pairings
Lamb with Rosemary and Garlic — the wine's peppery spice and dark fruit complement slow-roasted or grilled lamb beautifully.
Mushroom Risotto or Chargrilled Portobello — the umami depth of mushrooms mirrors the wine's spice and subtle oak.
Duck Breast with Blackberry Jus — rich, gamey duck pairs wonderfully with the wine's fruit-forward notes.
Aged Cheddar or Hard Sheep's Cheese — a simple pairing where the wine's acidity and spice cut through the richness.
Serving Suggestions
Decant for 20–30 minutes before serving, use a large red wine glass, and serve slightly cooler than room temperature, around 16–18°C.
