2018 First Duke Reserve Shiraz

This limited release wine is a fitting tribute to our forefather, James Graham, who became the First Duke Of Montrose in 1707.A beautifully balanced and complex Yarra Valley Shiraz; vibrant red in colour. Lifted aromas of dark cherry, liquorice, spice and black olive arouse the senses, while the palate is bursting with rich red berries, plum and mocha flavours. A select parcel of fruit, hand picked and sorted from the Kangaroo Ground vineyard. Matured for 18 months in a selection of new (50%) and seasoned French oak. Barrel selected for limited release production.Isolated from a single block on our Kangaroo Ground vineyard, the fruit for this wine was hand-picked and hand-sorted then whole berry fermented in open pots. The wine was pressed into and matured in carefully selected new and seasoned French oak barrels for 18 months. Barrel selected for limited release production. Oak was carefully selected that highlights the inherent fruit flavours, adds to the spice and lengthens the palate.The result is a beautifully balanced and complex shiraz with vibrant colour, pronounced red berry, dark cherry and mocha flavours with soft, rounded tannins.Under 200 dozen made. Cork and wax sealed.JAMES HALLIDAY RATING - 94 POINTS (2019)
